The officer team is passionate about our chapter and work hard to make it run efficiently and bring it and the members to success!
Ms. Martinez- Advisor
Ms. Martinez has been at Salinas High School for three years. She teaches all of our Ag sciences as well as our Ag. Government and Economics class. She is an alum of Fresno State with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education emphasis in Animal Science. She lends a helping hand to students with livestock and animal science SAE's and is in charge of our Veterinary Science Team, our new Agriscience Team, along with the various other CDE's our program offers. She loves moments in FFA such as when the first freshman of the year gets their corduroy jacket, listening to senior speeches and hearing how this organization has changed them, and when our Vet Science team won first in six contests last season along with placing second in the state.
Mr. Evans- Advisor
A native of California, Mr. Evans grew up on a small farm in Valley Home. He joined 4-H when he was nine and showed welding, swine and beef projects at the Stanislaus County Fair. Mr. Evans was an active member of Oakdale FFA during high school and paid for his Agriculture Management Degree for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with earnings from fair projects and a welding business.
Mr. Evans worked in the Produce Industry for ten years after college and then started his own business in Monterey so that he could spend more time with his three daughters and wife. Realizing that working with young people was his favorite thing about owning a business, Mr. Evans went back to school where he obtained his Multiple Subject teaching credential. Mr. Evans joined the team at Salinas High School in 2017 and has both Multiple Subject and a Single Subject in Agriculture credentials. He currently teaches Ag Mechanics, Advanced Welding and Fabrication, Agriculture Government, History of Floral Design and Environmental Horticulture.

I am also a member of the recently opened 4-H club Hilltown! I have been showing swine through 4-H at 3 county fairs a year since I was 9 years old. In total I have shown 25 market hogs and I have raised 3 market steers. This past year I had the opportunity to raise the Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Hog and The Monterey County Fair Heritage Hog as well. I have played number 3 on the Salinas High JV tennis team for two years and now have moved up to varsity. This year I hope to help our chapter and its members grow!

I am a Junior, and this is my third year as a member of this wonderful organization. Alongside being Vice-President of our chapter I am also the President of the Monterey Bay Section. I live for FFA and I will put my all into serving YOU this year. In my position I am responsible for assisting in nearly every aspect of our chapter activities, I run committees, plan theme weeks, and fill in for our President when needed! FFA has given me the opportunity to raise livestock and this year I will be raising my third market hog for the Monterey County Fair and possibly raising a steer in the near future. I cannot wait to see all of you flourish and grow and I am so excited for all the fun that will be had this year!
Catheryn Stace- Treasurer
Welcome! My name is Catheryn Stace and I am the Salinas High Schools FFA Treasure as a junior, for the 2018-2019 school years. This year will be my third year in the Salinas High Chapter, yet my first as an officer. I have had amazing opportunities to raise a goat and soon to raise my second pig through FFA. For my first year in FFA, I participated in speaking competitions such as Opening and Closing all three years, Creed speaking my freshmen year, going to many of the conferences, and raising livestock. In my free time, I love to go to Hollister Hills and go ride dirt bikes with my friends “Braaap.” During the summer is when I am always at the lake either fishing or wakeboarding behind the boat. I also enjoyed playing softball and volleyball which I don't play anymore, as i have an injured shoulder from crashing too many times. As a child, I started out fishing with my dad then moved to hunting deer, ducks and raising chickens at my house. Agriculture has always been a passion of mine, even before I came to Salinas High and became active in our FFA Chapter. I am looking forward to a great year with my team, building each others confidence, learning leadership skills, and developing our chapter team into more of a family!

Jessica Stewart - Sentinel
My name is Jessica Stewart and I am a part of the Salinas FFA Chapter. I am upon my junior year at Salinas High. I was born in Salinas and I’ve been here all my life. I am a huge softball player and over summer I travel like crazy for tournaments. I have put a lot of time and dedication into that sport. Luckily for me, it has payed off. I am a Utah State commit and am super excited to study Agriculture in Logan. As for me as a person, I am super energetic, passionate, dedicated, hardworking and I have my quirks. I have always been a “daddy’s girl” ever since I was little. Riding bikes, hunting, fishing and wearing overalls were really my cup of tea back then. Although I don’t ride bikes as much and act like a pro dirt bike rider, I still enjoy spending my time with my dad either hunting out on the refuge or going to the lake and having a blast “rippin’ lips”. I am in FFA because I love the outdoors. Being the fact that I basically grew up hunting with all the boys, I am very passionate about the Ag industry. I am the Sentinel for the Salinas FFA Chapter. This is my first year being an officer and I have learned so much. The classes I have taken in my FFA program consist of Ag Chemistry, Advanced Sustainable Science, Welding and Ornamental Horticulture.I am looking forward to represent the Salinas FFA Chapter this year as Sentinel. I am also looking forward to being a part of this remarkable leadership team.
